Winona State University (WSU) is a mid-size regional public university holding the No. 1 student success rate in the Minnesota state system of colleges and universities. WSU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and is recognized as the No. 1 public university in the state of Minnesota, according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2023 rankings. We offer high quality undergraduate and graduate programs, all of which include opportunities for internships with some of the Midwest’s most prestigious companies and organizations. Community engagement is important at Winona State University, with most of our programs providing students a chance to use what they learn to help others. All international students receive our Cross-Cultural Scholarship which allows them to pay in-state tuition. Students receive strong academic and services support. The university is nestled between picturesque bluffs and the Mississippi River, providing many unique ways to explore nature. Winona is a small and safe town located close to larger cities.

Campus Life
Our Integrated Wellness Complex aligns health, wellness, academic, and recreational programs and services into a single facility. Students can choose from 200 clubs and student organizations. WSU is a campus for creators to play, perform, produce and perfect their art—whatever that may be. A variety of outdoor activities such as rock climbing, paddle boarding, hiking, biking and more are within a mile of campus. There’s plenty to do in the city of Winona from major festivals that bring in crowds to local entertainment, food, shopping and more to fill your days.
