About Study Minnesota
Welcome to Study Minnesota, your one-stop resource to find the right secondary, college, university, or training program throughout the state.
Minnesota offers a wealth of diverse educational opportunities. The state has two public (tax-supported) university systems in the state, Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) and the University of Minnesota system, as well as an abundance of private colleges and universities. In the USA, accredited public and private institutions of higher education are considered comparable in terms of academic quality and reputation.
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU)
With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota.
The system is comprised of 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities, serving more than 430,000 students, with 310,000 students taking credit-bearing courses. Overall, the system produces 41,700 graduates each year.
University of Minnesota (UMN)
The University of Minnesota operates a flagship campus in the heart of the Twin Cities, and four coordinate campuses across Minnesota in Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester. Approximately 65,000 students study statewide throughout the system.
Minnesota Private Colleges
The Minnesota Private College Council (MPCC) and its affiliate, the Minnesota Private College Fund, represent private nonprofit higher education in Minnesota. Seventeen institutions are members; they share a liberal arts focus. Almost 60,000 students study at MPCC institutions.
Minnesota Career College Association (MCCA)
Representing 38 campuses and 16 college systems across the state of Minnesota, member institutions in the fall of 2010 served over 26,000 students. Member institutions offer programs from the certificate/diploma level through graduate degrees.
