Welcome to North Hennepin Community College, where we believe in engaging students and changing lives! Founded in 1966, NHCC is one of the largest and most diverse community colleges in Minnesota and a member of the Minnesota State system, the fifth largest system in the United States. We serve more than 7,500 students and offer more than 70 degree and certificate programs. In addition, NHCC offers several bachelor’s degrees from university partners right here on our campus.

NHCC hosts a vibrant liberal arts environment where you can participate or attend theater productions, art events, music concerts, and other cultural happenings throughout the year. Sign up for recreational sports, or join one of our 20+ student clubs and organizations. You’ll definitely find a place to belong here!

NHCC is located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, which is a diverse suburb in the northwest Twin Cities metropolitan area (located about 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis). The campus is accessible by personal vehicle, mass transit/bus, and within a short distance to some rental apartments for students wanting to live close to campus (no on-campus residential options). 

North Hennepin is a community college (referred to as a 2-year college) that provides associate degrees that can transfer toward a bachelor’s degree (as the first two years in a 2+2 program) or lead to a career in an in-demand industry like Nursing, Computer/Data Science, Criminal Justice, Paralegal, Graphic Design, Business, or Construction Management.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

NHCC was a pioneer in offering undergraduate research to community college students. Undergraduate research allows students to work closely with a faculty member to generate or discover new information in a particular field. The scholarly projects have proven to be an effective mechanism to enhance hands-on learning, discovery, collaboration, critical thinking and engagement.
